THE JUNIOR CHALLENGE TOUR 2015
POTENTIAL LACK OF INTEREST
Following the poor turn out after the first 3 Rounds of the 2015 Junior Challenge Tour we are hoping that TOUR entries improve as the season moves forward.
There are still a number of ELGA CLUBS who do not support the Tour as a whole ,where some clubs only seem to support their own events.
Other Clubs have NO JUNIORS at all and some with only a few at the high end handicap level who are not yet confident in playing other courses.
We thank the support of "NON ELGA" Clubs and Players who continue to participate in these events.
We appreciate the early part of the season is effected by Exams and Holidays and hope entries will improve significantly to enable the event to reach its objective.
GENERAL.
The Tour was introduced to hopefully increase entries in our member clubs own unior opens by providing an additional challenge to our young players , by giving them the opertunity to play various courses within East Lancashire aquiring Merit Points per event thus creating the East Lancashire Tour Champions. ( Gross & Nett)
Players with handicaps of up to 28 play from competition tees and players 29 and over plus all girls play from red blocks.
The Tour Merit points are assigned to all players (Max H/Cap 36) for the 18 Hole stroke play competition.
Many clubs also offer a 9 Hole event for players above 36 H/Cap.giving them the opertunity to meet other youngsters with the same intersets. ( Parents are welcome to accompany these younger players)
Junior organisers are requested to promote these events by discussion with their juniors / parents, possibly arranging club transport, and displaying and posting Tour advertising.
We sincerely hope the Tour can continue but we do need extra support from our junior players to make it worthwhile.
After 5 Rounds of fixtures the tour will indeed continue throughout 2015
